Another book about a place on the planet that many choose to ignore, this time for its inhospitable heat and homogenous religion that we imagine beyond our comfort zone. Truth be told I found the people of the four countries on the Arabia peninsula quite hospitable and their cultures quite fascinating. Certainly I did go underwater, but here it is much more metaphorical, since the point of the three-month journey was to get under the surface of what we see from the west in order to truly experience the countries.
Un autre livre sur un endroit de la planète que beaucoup choisissent d’ignorer, cette fois à cause de sa chaleur inhospitalière et de sa religion homogène que nous imaginons au-delà de notre zone de confort. À vrai dire, j’ai trouvé les habitants des quatre pays de la péninsule arabique tout à fait hospitaliers et leurs cultures tout à fait fascinantes. Bien entendu, je suis allé plonger, mais ici c’est beaucoup plus métaphorique, puisque le but de ce voyage de trois mois était d’explorer sous la surface de ce que nous voyons depuis l’Occident afin de rencontrer véritablement ces pays.
